This first posture is linked to the Guardian. Using an elongated Front Stance, turn the body to one side (pictured to the left), keeping the leading knee above the big toes. Leading foot toes pointed to the stance front, rear toes pointed towards spatial front. Turning to face spatial front, extend the leading hand (right) in a knife-hand block, and bring the rear hand (left) above the head in an open-palm upper circular block.
The stance should be just barely longer than the student is comfortable and easily stable. Sink down into the stance, keeping the weight slightly more on the lead (left) foot. Keeping position through physical resistance, push the lead hand out, letting the Force flow out of the arm. The rear hand should be pulling back on the shoulder blade to create a slight bit of tension, keeping the block strong without being overly tight.
Hold this position with each side for as long as able, up to 5 minutes.
